Discover the era of transatlantic passenger flights, the invention of Irish Coffee and the maritime history of the majestic River Shannon.

Explore Foynes’ role in early passenger flights across the Atlantic Ocean and the legendary flying boats that came and went; carrying celebrities, royalty, rich and famous and desperate refugees alike.

The museum features a replica B314 flying boat and radio room in the original terminal building, plus a maritime museum and Maureen O’Hara exhibition.

The Irish coffee lounge tells of the original location where Irish coffee was invented by Joe Sheridan.

Upgraded in 2023; the new development includes a 100-seater premium cinema, re-developed aviation museum, expanded Maureen O’Hara exhibition and more.

Foynes Museum is located on both the Wild Atlantic Way and Shannon Estuary Way, and is the only WAW Discovery Point in County Limerick

Foynes is in the west of County Limerick, approximately 35km (22 miles/30 mins) from Limerick City on the N69 route from Limerick to Tralee. If you are travelling from West Clare, you can use the Shannon Estuary car ferry operating regularly from Killimer in County Clare to Tarbert in County Kerry, just 20km (12.5miles/20 mins) west of Foynes.
